Year 6 record breakers - Science and Engineering Week

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 6 Year: 2017 - 2018

year 6 had great fun attempting to break a Guinness World Record today as part of Science and Engineering week. They had to follow a strict set of rules about the length of the blocks, how long it had to stand and the starting state of the blocks. We had some time to practise first - children worked really well in teams to assign roles - some were tower builders, others were responsible for the bridging structure and others to measure the height to ensure there was at least 10cm of clearance. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to apply their knowledge of bridges from Y5, alongside all their skills in teamwork, co-operation, communication, listening, encouraging and leading a team.

Well done y6 - we are going to see what the current record stands at and see if our amazing 72cm comes close, if so watch this space!
