The new curriculum requires children to be fluent in mathematics and be able to reason. To help develop this, some of the children in Year 6 spent the maths session cementing their understanding and deepening their knowledge by explaining what happens to numbers when they are multiplied or divided by 10,100,1000. Children had to show a secure understanding of place value and were even explaining common misconceptions like adding a zero. They used diagrams to explain.
