The River Mersey, ships and trade

Lesson: Geography

Class: Year 3 Year: 2021 - 2022

The children visited the River Mersey, it was a little cloudy day, but the children could see how vast the river is.  They pointed out the three Graces that overlook Liverpool and the River Mersey.  We watched the various ferries and boats travelling up and down the river.  The children also saw two different types of ships that they had in the dry docks. We made our way then to the Museum of Liverpool where we looked at the timeline of Liverpool and then we had a walking tour and workshop.  The children learnt about the trade that comes into Liverpool in the past and how the land has changed over time. The children also learnt about the words import and export learning where some of the different products have come from and what products Liverpool export.  The children were given the raw material of a product and had to use their skills to try and work out what the products are.  We have a fabulous time in Liverpool.
