St Patrick's Day

Class: Nursery Year: 2016 - 2017

Nursery had a very special visitor sneak into Nursery. A letter revealed it was magical 'Larry the Leprechaun'! Larry left the children some tricky phonics clues leading to a tasty chocolate treat, to celebrate his favourite day of the year, St Patrick's Day.

The children wanted to learn more about St Patrick's Day and what Irish people did to celebrate it.

We watched some Irish Riverdance and practiced some ourselves. It turns out Irish dancing is a hidden talent here at Garswood Nursery.

In the afternoon we made some authentic handmade Irish soda bread. Using our strong muscles to mix, knead and stretch the dough.
The children (and staff!) tried to be very patient, as bread takes a long time to make! But it was worth it when we enjoyed some warm butterey buns!

Happy St Patrick's Day!
