Nursery meet Nature

Class: Old Foundation Stage Year: 2015 - 2016

This was a lovely experience for the children. After learning about the animals who live in the jungle and Rainforest and singing lots of songs and rhymes about them, the children were lucky to meet the real things. They were able to touch the animals, even hear them, especially the giant hissing cockroaches. We learnt about how snakes can make their mouths go extremely wide and why the cockroaches hiss. We now know that a Chameleon's skin can go lighter or darker according to their surroundings and that a snake smells with its tongue. Everybody either held or stroked the animals, even the teachers!

This Chameleon was quite an old man

We could hear the cockroaches hissing. Our teacher was brave.

The skunk was cuddly and fortunately de-scented.
