The children, in Year 3, have had a full week celebrating the Platinum Jubilee, 70 years of our Queen's reign.

The children collected and learnt about a decade in the Queen's reign. Year 3's decade was 1982 to 1992, we discussed the miners’ strike, the fall of the Berlin wall, fashion, popular games and films of the decade. We also learnt that Roald Dayl wrote, 'The BFG' in this decade.

The children also decorated their own flag on bunting for the 'River of Hope.' We discussed what they hoped for in the next 70 years, we discussed future technology to a greener planet and oceans being plastic and rubbish free.

On the Friday, the children had a street party with the rest of the school outside with a conga finish towards the garden to watch a tree planting ceremony.
Definitely, a week of celebrations, learning, hopes and dreams.
