Hands on science

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 2 Year: 2016 - 2017

Y2 have enjoyed starting their new topic about animals and their habitats.  To help us to understand 'micro-habitats' we went outside to see what we could find.  We saw worms in the soil, birds in the trees, flies in  leaves, slugs under logs and... we were very lucky to find a hedgehog beginning its hibernation in a bed of leaves!  We recorded our findings in a table, using a tally chart which we will later transfer onto a graph.  After some research, Y2 decided to move the hedgehog to our hedgehog home which we had placed in our forest school area a few weeks ago.  We think that will be a warmer, safer place for the hedgehog to hibernate.
