Ancient Greece comes to Garswood

Lesson: History

Year 3 have had a fantastic day being immersed in their History learning by having a visitor show us what it was like in Ancient Greece. We learned all about the geography and how the different cities were at war with each other. We went on to look at some Greek mythology and we reenacted Theseus and the Minotaur. We also did some detective work to find out key facts about the Greeks and we played a game which is believed to be the 'grandfather' of chess. After lunch we atttempted to solve Archimedes puzzle and then we had a suprise visit from a Greek warrior he told us about how they used to go into battle. We even had time to have a go at our own Olympic games. We were so busy, but we we learned a lot and we were thoroughly engaged by what our fantastic visitor had to say.
