World Book Day and Evening
World Book Day was a celebration to remember, filled with wonder, excitement, and a whole lot of storytelling fun!
The day began with a burst of creativity as children arrived dressed in pyjamas for cosy bedtime stories or transformed into favourite book characters, from classic fairytale heroes to magical creatures, wizards, and wild things. The school was a sea of colour, laughter, and imagination — the perfect way to kick off a day dedicated to the joy of reading.
In the evening, our junior pupils returned for a very special night-time experience, where the school was transformed into a world of book-inspired adventures. Children were free to explore a wide range of magical, messy, and marvellous activities at their own pace.
From playing Quidditch and racing in Mary Poppins' Spoonful of Sugar challenges, to making slime and potions like they were in a bubbling wizard lab, there was something for every reader to enjoy.
Those with a taste for adventure could head to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sweet station or join games designed to fill up Paddington’s tummy — complete with bear-sized fun!
Children could get up close to nature by visiting a live coral reef experience, even holding real crabs, bringing to life the underwater world of Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson. For animal lovers, there was the chance to meet real owls and vultures in a stunning live-action bird show that had everyone wide-eyed.
Throughout the night, pupils also took part in an exciting book-themed scavenger hunt, uncovering hidden clues and storybook treasures tucked around the school.
It was a night of imagination unleashed — where books came alive in every corner of the school and every child could step into the pages of their favourite stories.
A huge thank you goes to all the staff and volunteers who made the event so special, and to our pupils for their brilliant energy, creativity, and love of reading. World Book Day 2025 will be a tough act to follow - we are already exploring new adventures for this time next year.
