Sponsored swim in memory of Zac Barston

Today the children in Year 6 took part in a sponsored swim to raise money to create a memorial for Zac Barston, their friend and classmate.

Zac died on 30th March 2015 from an agressive brain tumour, glioblastoma multiforme. Throughout his illness, Zac remained good humoured, determined and strong – a true inspiration. Always popular with friends, peers and staff, he is truly missed.

Today's swim was a fitting tribute. Zac was an accomplished and talented swimmer. His friends wanted to do something that Zac would have enjoyed.

We will continue to fund raise for the memorial and intend to also raise monies to support further research into finding ways to beat this dreadful disease.

Anyone wishing to support the charity set up to research this life threatening disease can make donations to the ‘Children’s Brain Tumour Research Network’ based at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Donations can be made by contacting The RMCH Charity Team at [email protected] quoting CBTRN or telephone 0161 276 4522. Cheques should be made payable to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital but should clearly state on the back ref: CBTRN 629841. Ensure donations are sent in referencing Zac Barston. The address to send cheques to is: Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity Team, Citylabs, Nelson Street, Manchester M13 9NQ.
