Spawn Watch!

Year 2 were very excited when Mrs Myatt brought in a jar of frog spawn.

We eagerly carried out research, in school and at home, to discover what would happen to our frog spawn and how best to look after it.

We discovered the frog life cycle and the time scales for each stage. Ruby created a very informative chart that we have displayed with our tank and George brought in a great frog non-fiction book.

After one week our tadpoles hatched! They were tiny but very good swimmers. They ate the jelly left in the frog spawn and we added a water plant too.

We are now waiting for their back legs to grow and it should be any day now!

“Next the front legs will grow and their tails will start to shrink into their bodies!” Olivia Swift told us.

We will update this page when our tadpoles move into the next stage of their life cycle.
