Final term

We have started the new term with as much vigour as we ended the last one!

It has been a busy start and I can't believe how much we've fitted in to these first 2 weeks.

Year 2 have had some new visitors with eggs being delivered in an incubator earlier this week. Check out the video on Twitter of the first one hatching, before 4 others followed suit.

Year 1 went on an exciting journey to St Helens on the train before arriving at the Transport Museum to learn more about the history of transport and the different methods of travel.

Year 4 learned from Tobacco in Education about the dangers of smoking and how they can make the right choices in the future, whilst Year 5 have had cycling lessons around the village with Bikeability - learning how to stay safe and healthy using this environmentally friendly method of transport. Year 3 were also looking to improve the environment with their trip to Southport Eco Centre. However whilst they were there, they looked back in time to learn about the Stone Age.

Our Early Years children worked with 'Great Photos with Great Kids' to learn how to take photographs and celebrate 'friendship' in their images.

We've restarted Military School for our Y6 children and booster classes after school. The infants have enjoyed archery club and early years Morris dancing. We have started a football club on Monday after school for children Y2 upwards. Cookery club held a cookathon and made some delicious shepherds pie - yum! Craft club has started again and guitar and recorder club performed in our singing assembly - showing some real musical prowess.

Thank you to the F.R.O.G.S. who held an evening of entertainment to raise money for the school. We can't wait to find out how much money was raised. It certainly seemed like people had a lot of fun.

Mrs Mills has hosted a coffee afternoon with all the uniform we have available for 'swapping' or re-using. There is more to be had so don't miss out on this money saving opportunity. Speak with Mrs Mills. We also relaunched our tots club and welcomed some new families.

Finally, we have also organised and hosted training for our staff, and staff from across our network, in spelling with Focus Education, Talk Boost intervention and in 'Spreading the Happiness' with Shonette Bason Wood.

Phew! A great start to the term. Enjoy your long weekend and look forward to coming back to school on Tuesday.
