Martin Mere

Class: Year 1 Year: 2014 - 2015

Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Martin Mere on Monday. Luckily the rain held off and we had lots of fun learning about different birds and experiencing what it must by like for them in the different habitats that they live in.

We saw a range of birds and other wildlife, including flamingos, otters and beavers. We saw the otters being fed - it was amazing to watch them use their big, sharp teeth to open the shells that they had been given. We also kept a look out for the birds from different parts of the world (there were even some yellow, rubber ones along our route!!)

One of the best parts of the day was going on the wild walk where we got to see the different types of habitats that the birds live in, for example the marsh lands and the woodlands. It was very muddy but fun to find out what it must be like for the birds - it's a good job they have webbed feet!

We finished off the day by visiting one of the many hides at Martin Mere where we could see the birds in their natural habitat. It was amazing to see them so close.

It was a fantastic day - have a look at some of the photographs below to see what we got up to.
