Landing in London

Class: Year 6 Year: 2017 - 2018

London was calling for our Y6 children as the annual residential came around on a beautiful sunny week in June.

I was privileged to accompany the children to their capital city and was proud to have them represent our school. They were superb ambassadors and on different occasions members of the public commented and commended them on their behaviour. This even started when we stopped at Warwick services for lunch - when they were so excited to be on their way - they were still superb and complimented on their behaviour. The premier inn were so impressed with our children - and we were so impressed with their delicious full English breakfast each morning!

We certainly make the most of the trip to London and cram in such a lot. This year we toured on a coach and saw lots of sights including 10 Downing Street, Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Piccadilly Circus. We shopped in the Lego store; the M&M store and a souvenir shop. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe, Bubba Gump and picnicked next to the London Eye. We had a flight on the London Eye  - seeing all across London from the Shard to St Paul's Cathedral and the Houses of Parliament - and then the 4D London Eye experience was amazing. We went on a River Cruise along the Thames - spotting ITV studios and the Globe to name a few, and passing under the Millennium Bridge. When we dismounted we toured the Tower of London - even seeing the crown jewels and the famous ravens!

We got to take in a show - singing along at the Gillian Lynne theatre - we watched 'School of Rock'. The trip was finished off on the way back up North - by a visit to Warner Bros Studios The Making of Harry Potter where we were drinking Butterbeer, trying out the flying car and walking along Diagon Alley.

The whole trip was magical and no doubt will be unforgettable. What a great way to finish off their Garswood experience. #Y6leavers
