Sports Day 2016

Today was the School Sports Day.

Some time ago we took the decision to have our Sports Day earlier in the school calendar. This was to ensure that if poor weather prevailed - we had more opportunity to rearrange the event and could avoid missing a school Sports Day. 

This year - though the weather could have been better - we managed to fit in our active and fun event and celebrate our sporting talents.

The children were amazing and showed such resilience, perseverance, effort and energy. I was so impressed with  the speed and skill of some of our children.

Well done to Ella in Y6, Darcy in Reception and Leighton in Y1 who are amazingly fast at running. Lucas in Y2 showed superb footballing skills and Beth in Y5, an all-round sporting star

Thank you to Mr Yearsley and to Year 4/5 children for planning the events and setting up the equipment. Thanks to all of our children who were helpful at bringing in the equipment and tidying up after the events. I have told them how extremely proud of them all I am. It was an excellent afternoon and the children were impeccably behaved.

We raised money for our school fund with a raffle and Fundraising Relatives of Garswood School (F.R.O.G.S) kindly sold refreshments to raise money for their funds.

Thank you to our parents and families for coming along to support the event and for waiting patiently at the end of the school day to collect your child so we could ensure everyone left the school site safely.
