October half term
Thank you to our families for a lovely start to the school year.
We've enjoyed some exciting events already but more importantly we've settled into the routines of school and are ready for an interesting year ahead.
This half term has been an insight into democracy for our children as they have watched and listened to our Y6 children campaigning for House Captain roles. On our final day of the half term we awarded the 8 accolades as the 4 houses celebrated their captains being voted in. Congratulations to the new House Captains - photographs to follow.
Quickly stepping up to the role the Sycamore House Captains were awarded the trophy for this half term with the Sycamores collecting over 2000 house points! The new leaders proudly thanked their house for their efforts. Well done Sycamores and they now look forward to the treat they have chosen - a PJ day! This day - wearing onesies/PJs/slippers - will be for all Sycamores to enjoy on 22nd November 2019 (trainers may also be worn).
We also celebrated, in our end of half term assembly, our Citizenship Award winners. At the end of every half term, each teacher selects one worthy winner of this highly sought after award. We regularly remind our children that it is the qualities of being a good citizen that make such a difference. Our school is like a family, we look out for one another. This award celebrates those children who go that extra mile in making Garswood the special place that it is. Congratulations to the award winners this half term. A photograph (taken by our Y6 photographer) is below.
An extra surpise in our final assembly was the Champion's League trophy paying a visit. As Saints Rugby team have won it once again, we were lucky enough to have the chance see it and for some of us to hold the actual trophy itself. Who doesn't love an extra surprise on our final day in school!
I hope everyone has a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you back on 4th November 2019.
