Bouncing in to Easter
This term has been filled with remarkable experiences that exemplify our commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who are curious, resilient, and engaged learners.
Our children have benefited from a wealth of enriching activities that extend far beyond the classroom walls. Year Four embarked upon their PGL holiday, an adventure that has fostered resilience, independence, and teamwork in equal measure ad also been great fun!
Year Two, Year Six, and Year One have undertaken trips that have brought their learning to life, and I am genuinely grateful to the staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure both the safety and engagement of every child throughout these experiences. The behaviour and enthusiasm demonstrated by our children during these activities have been truly remarkable.
Year Two took a trip on a vintage bus to travel back in time and learn about how things used to be. They visited the World of Glass and the transport museum before catching the train back to Garswood. What a superb experience! Year 6 continued to learn about their ow town's heritage - visiting the Dream and the old colliary site to listen to a talk about the history of mining and how it shaped our town. Year 1 have also learnt about the past and Lily Parr - who put St Helens on the map with her amazing footballing prowess. The visited the Football Museum and also the Lowry - linking their historical learning with art. All of our trips are carefully planned and considered to make the very best of learning outside the classroom.
This half term our SEND coffee morning provided a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to connect with one another and with staff, fostering the strong sense of community that lies at the heart of Garswood Primary and Nursery School. This collaborative spirit has been evident throughout the term, most notably through our World Book Day celebration, which culminated in an exciting community scavenger hunt. It was wonderful to see so many families join in the fun and enthusiasm.
Science Week sparked curiosity and fostered a genuine passion for scientific enquiry as children conducted experiments and explored new ideas. Red Nose Day provided an opportunity for the children to engage with charitable giving whilst enjoying moments of laughter together. The Easter Bonnet and Egg Competition, alongside our Easter Bouncy Bingo, created moments of hilarity and friendly competition. These events, together with our year group assemblies and the diverse range of clubs on offer, have enriched the experiences available to our children.
I am delighted to celebrate that our attendance is now at 97.1%. With a final push in this latter term, we can meet the target of 97.2%. Our attendance expectations exist to ensure that every child receives the education to which they are entitled and to maintain the structure and continuity that supports effective learning. I would encourage all families to adhere to these expectations, as regular attendance is fundamental to a child's progress and achievement, and your partnership is essential.
Congratulations must also go to our wonderful musicians, who have achieved yellow hub music award successes.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting range of activities and clubs coming up, including cookery club, rugby club, and the return of yoga and dance club for our infant children. Year Six SATs boosters continue, and martial arts and music clubs remain available as usual. Additionally, Invest in Play is starting for our families—please speak with Mrs Livesley if you would like to join in.
Welcome to our new nursery children who start with us after the break. If you are interested in your child starting with us then contact our school for a look around. We'd be happy to welcome you.
Be kind, be ambitious and be respectful.
