Author - Chitra Soundar

We were delighted to welcome author Chitra Soundar to our school.

Chitra inspired all children in a whole school assembly, as she explained how she became an author. We also heard about the value placed upon oral story telling and the impact that this can have. It was also interesting to hear that Chitra began writing at a young age.

Chitra started  writing poetry in Tamil when she was 14. Encouraged by her teachers, she wrote about nature, love and her country. She went on to write in Hindi and English as well. During her Junior years, she wrote songs for puppet shows and wrote for her school magazines. 

Children in Y2, 5 and 6 also benefited from a writing workshop with Chitra though it was some of our youngest children who were truly entranced by the stories she shared in the assembly.

As ever - we hope it has lit the flame of learning for some of our children.
