The children have been learning about Christianity and on the 10th of October 2023, the Year 3 class went to visit the Methodist church on Victoria Road in Garswood. Lisa, the Minister of the church, explained the different symbols in the Methodist church. She spoke about the Bible and how it is the Holy book for Christians. Lisa told the children that the Bible is two books - the Old and New testaments. The children shared with Lisa some of their prior learning about Prophets from the Old Testament. Lisa explained how these Prophets, especially Abraham, feature in other religions.
Lisa discussed with the children why Christians follow God and why she decided to devote her life to God - the Minister explained that this was her vocation. She told the children how she believes that God sent down Jesus to take away sins and how he sacrificed himself and rose again. She explained that for her, following God gives her peace, joy and hope and it gives her life purpose. She believes that religion helps her to make good choices.
