L.S Lowry visit

Lesson: Art and design

Class: Year 1 Year: 2015 - 2016

Today we visited the Lowry art gallery in Salford. Year 1 were fascinated looking at his work and sketching in the Lowry style. We saw some paintings which were worth millions of pounds. The children shared their opinions about the art work and were amazed at how well they could recreate his work by looking for simple shapes within the pictures.

In the afternoon we made some amazing 3D models of Lowry inspired people using 'model magic'. Although this was tricky and a challenge, Year 1 certainly showed that there are some budding artists and sculptors in the making. Watch this space for the finished models to be revealed.

A highly recommended day out for all.
