Welcome back!

It has been lovely to welcome everyone and a special welcome to those who have recently joined us. I do hope you've settled quickly into life at Garswood. It is such a wonderful place to be and we all try, every day to 'be kind, be ambitious and be respectful'.

If you have any questions, please do ask. We are here to help.

Curriculum meetings

Thank you to those of you who came along to our 'curriculum and cake' meetings this week. It hopefully gave you a chance not only to meet the teacher but also to find out more about the year ahead; how you can help and what to expect.

No Outsiders

A sincere thank you to our parents and carers who kindly donated books and cash to enable us to purchase the ‘No Outsiders’ books. During our recent assmeblies we have spoken with the children about No Outsiders. We have already looked at stereotypes and how this has been explored in some television adverts for the World Cup over the summer. We’ve also shared the first half term ‘No Outsider’ books in our classrooms. We have talked about how it feels to be an outsider and how we can help people to feel included. We've also talked about feeling empowered and how we can help ourselves to feel comfortable and join in with activities that we want to be part of. These books and assemblies continue to promote our core values to ‘be kind’, ‘be ambitious’ and ‘be respectful’

It’s been lovely to see these values also reflected in interactions with our families. When parents engage positively with the school and share these values it has a positive impact. Working together and having positive relationships makes a difference to our children.

Extra-curricular

Thank you to those of you that have responded to the survey for extra-curricular clubs. We are designing the offer, responding where we can to the wishes of our children. The link has been sent out for registration with Freedom football (Y1-6) and the offer for keyboard, brass and guitar clubs have also been provided to junior classes. Watch this space as we have rugby; art and craft; lego; book club and cookery starting soon!

Keep in touch

It would be lovely to see more people follownig our daily updates on Twitter (now X). Follow us @GarswoodPrimary to learn more about what goes on in our school.
