London

Year 6 were an absolute credit to the school on their trip to London 17-19 May 2017.

Complimented on their behaviour by the coach driver, hotel staff and guests staying at the hotel - I could not be prouder of them.

The children not only were a credit to school but also had a fantastic time. The trip was a huge success. Starting off with a sightseeing tour of London and some shopping in Leicester Square - the children explored the Lego Shop, M&M World, London souvenirs, and then admired the sculptures and Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square. They also stopped for a tasty tea at The Rainforest Cafe - and had a visit from a tree frog as they tucked in!

Having had a restful sleep at the hotel and a very yummy full breakfast they they set off on their travels again. This was a very full day starting with a flight on the London Eye. It was amazing to see all the sights from up high but they then got to see them from the comfort of a Thames River Cruise. Sailing from the Eye to Tower Bridge they waved to passers by on the Millennium Bridge, London Bridge and towards the This Morning Studios (look out for them on the TV!) In the shadow of The Shard they docked and took a return journey past Traitor's Gate and up to Big Ben.

Having alighted the boat they passed Parliament to head up to Downing Street. Not lucky enough just to pose for a photo at the gate with some of the Police, they also were there when the gates opened for someone important to enter! The guards mounted on horses were interesting but the children didn't go too near!

As they headed to Buckingham Palace they passed the Cenotaph and the memorial to Women in the War. Up onto the Mall, passed the masts and St James' Park they headed before looking for the bell to ring to see if Her Majesty the Queen would answer!  It was a real coup to see the Scots Guard on the day The Queen presented them with new colours. How superb to see as they marched past and headed to the Palace led by the marching band.

As the coach arrived to take the children for their dinner in Leicester Square it diverted past Marble Arch and other amazing sights, including some awe-inspiring sculptures and a memorial to the Animals who died in the War.

After pizzas and pasta, the children headed to Cambridge Theatre to watch the evening performance of Matilda. What a show! The children were laughing and singing along when they weren't sat transfixed at the magical set and talented performers. I'm sure it has inspired some of our more dramatic pupils.Following a long day everyone was ready for a good night of sleep.

However, the next morning brought more magic as the children headed to Warner Bros Studios - The Making of Harry Potter. They were agog at the experiences and made the most of the day - whilst everyone was posing for photos on brooms, casting their own spells in wand craft and taking part in the Hogwarts Express interactive activity - Harry (whilst it was his birthday) also got to open the doors to the Great Hall itself! Perhaps a favourite for some was lunch when they all got to wear a Butterbeer moustache! Hopping on the Knight Bus, the children alighted it to enter Privet Drive. Although exploring the new Forbidden Forest feature was a treat, alongwith a stroll up Diagon Alley - the final model of Hogwarts was spectacular.

As the children boarded the coach to come home they were still full of energy and moreover, full of fantastic memories to last a lifetime.

Well done to Year 6 and thank you to all the staff that helped to make this amazing visit become a reality.
