A New Year

We've had a lovely start to the new calendar year with the children eager and keen to continue with their learning. Starting a new topics is always exciting and we've had some great 'wows' to hook the children into their learning.

Year 3 had a tasty start to the year - enjoying their introduction to their Greek topic - tucking into olives, feta, pitta, yoghurt to name but a few! Mmmmmmm.

Year 4 and Year 5 had a trip out in the local community and visited the local church to look at religion through art and examine the stained glass windows. They also had a tour of the church and learned about the history in the Garswood community and it's role in worship for Christian people.

In the infants, Year 2 went to Liverpool and visited a mosque to learn about a place of worship and learn more about the religion of Islam. They also went to visit the Walker Art Gallery and were inspired by the sculptures and paintings.

Y1 also had the opportunity for artistic inspiration visiting the Lowry. They also the chance to have a go themselves too. They've brought back some Lowry inspired sculptures they've completed themselves.

In the Foundation Stage the children have discovered some interesting items outside - they seem to have some from a door on a tree! It seems there may be fairies in the outside area! I wonder what they will discover next?

It certainly has been an interesting start to the new calendar year and the children are inspired for the term ahead.

Thank you for your continued support and I hope you enjoy hearing about the exciting and interesting learning opportunities! Check out the galleries to learn more about what has been happening in and around our school.
