Festive Cheer!

As the school closes its doors on 2017 we end on a festive high. Despite the wet weather the children's singing lifted spirits as the community joined us for the annual Carols on the Car Park.

Thank you to everyone who came along and enjoyed the event, sharing in the celebrations with us.

We have had a great end to the term with parties, presents and even a visit from the big man himself. We also had a visit from two local Saints players who joined in our festive fun visiting the children.

This morning was our special assembly when we talked about the true meaning of Christmas and the importance of giving the gift of time, to value each other, our families and friends. This was also the time to share our trandition Christmas Spider story and this year it was Sam in Y6 who had the honour of placing the spider on our tree.

As the year draws to an end we can reflect on the successes. Garswood Primary School has much to celebrate and continues to achieve excellence in many different ways. I thank you for the support you show to the school and to the staff. We are proud that this year the school achieved the outstanding judgement from Ofsted. In addition, the league tables were released earlier this week and I’m delighted and extremely proud that once again Garswood Primary School is near the top.

However, results, outcomes and Ofsted are part and parcel of every school – and every school has to work towards high levels of achievement for their pupils. What isn’t published in any league table are the achievements children have made personally. They also do not measure how happy the children are, how much they enjoy school. Our children show such wonderful qualities. Whenever our children represent our school at events, they do so with pride and exuberance, and exemplify the qualities that we value so dearly at Garswood. They are fun-loving, determined, kind and considerate and in our half termly citizenship assembly this afternoon we celebrated exactly that.

Thank you to everyone - staff, Governors, families and friends who all contrbute to making Garswood the truly special place that it is.
